If you have not hosted a J1 participant before, please review our Host Manual to understand the J-1 program and host duties. We will also connect you with the designated sponsor for the J-1 program to confirm your hosting responsibilities.
Interns are 2nd year + undergraduates or recent graduates. They will have typically 3-6 months departmental work experience.
Trainees are either graduate of 1 year plus with at least 1 year of departmental work experience, or young professionals with 5 years + work experience.
INTERNS: Training plans require at least 2 training phases plus orientation for 6 months and at least 4 phases of training plus orientation for 12-month programs.
TRAINEES: Training plans require at least 3 phases plus orientation for 6-month programs. At least 4 phases of training plus orientation and leadership development in the final phase is required for 12-month programs.
Pastry Phases: Pastry, Chocolatier, Baking, Cakes and Decorations, Sweet and Confectionery, Breads, Pastry Plating, Pastry Management etc.
Culinary: Seafood production, fine dining, hot foods, casual dining, cold kitchen/larder/ Garde Manger, in-room dining, banquets, basic pastry, kitchen operation/administration, Kitchen leadership
Rooms Division: Front office, Reservations, VIP services, Housekeeping Supervisor/Inspectorate, Guest Services/Concierge, Front Office Management
Food & Beverage Management: Casual Restaurant Operations, Fine Dining Operations, Outlets, Banquets, outdoor dining, in room dining, private dining, food and beverage administration, food and beverage leadership.
Please indicate when you wish for programs to begin. Please note we require at least 3 months notice and advise as much notice as posible to ensure a smooth program start date.
Please note due to the nature of this training program you must ensure there is suitable supervision available thorughout the program. Also J-1 programs are required to provide at least 32 hours of training per week as DoS regulations.
Examples include: Uniform/dry cleaning, on site meals, on site housing, preferred/subsidized housing, flights, hotel discountsm local discounts, team outings, airport pick up, grocery trips, shuttle trips/usage etc
We typically arrange online interviews on Teams/Skype /Zoom for 15-30 minutes . However we also host J-1 fairs at interntional locations which you are welcome to join us on, for larger groups T4H will cover transportation and lodging costs.
